Wind Damage Insurance Claims FAQs
How can I prevent further wind damage to my roof?
There are natural weak points in the framework of any structure. You can reinforce these weak points to help prevent damage:
- If your home has a gabled roof, add a 2×4 in the attic and along the roof to stabilize the wall from caving in. This is commonly called a truss.
- Install storm or plywood shutters to exterior doors and windows.
- Reinforce hinges and add horizontal bracing to garage doors, which are vulnerable due to their size.
- Add hurricane straps to all connection points: roof to wall and wall to foundation. The straps will help maintain the physical structure of the building, as they help connect the roof to the exterior walls as well as between floors.
How much does it cost to have my property inspected for wind damage?
We do not charge you for a property inspection.
What can I do to help with the claims process?
